#MeToo allegations from 2018

Tanushree Dutta made national headlines in 2018 after accusing renowned actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the set of the 2009 film Horn Ok Pleassss. She claimed she filed a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) as early as 2008, but it went nowhere.

She also accused director Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to “remove clothes and dance” with Irrfan Khan while filming Chocolate. Patekar and Agnihotri rejected the allegations. According to sources, Nana Patekar was eventually cleared of the charges.

However, the case was one of the first big events to spark India’s #MeToo movement. Tanushree’s choice to speak up back then was viewed as important.

Tanushree has stated that she will provide additional information soon, including details about her planned police complaint. For the time being, she is staying at home and doing her best to cope. She claimed that listening to Hindu chants on headphones helps her deal with anxiety.
